When it comes to the experience that I got lost, I’d like to share one terrible experience I had in Thailand. It is almost tow months ago when I travelled to Chiang Rai, Thailand. According to my original plan, I was supposed to get to the White Temple, which is known as one of the most famous temples in Thailand, before the sunset. However, as we all know, Chiang Rai is a really special city for the reason that it is located in the Golden Triangle Area, which is the tri-border of Laos, Burma and Thailand. The local landscape is so complex that people can easily get lost. Unluckily, I was one of them. What’s worse, the GPS cannot help to navigate at all due to the poor signal in the mountain and I have a really poor sense of direction! Local people can only speak Thai and Lao which made it impossible for me to ask for help. Looking at the endless forests and the lonely road, I felt really desperate and hopeless. Fortunately, a tour bus stopped by me and a young Thai boy jumped off the bus and asked me what happened. He was a tour guide in one of the local agencies. Coincidentally, his guests also headed to the same destination as me. He picked me up and sent me to my destination in time! He was so friendly and enthusiastic that he even gave me his map in case I got lost again. From this special experience I learned that in the future, when I travel to another country, I really need to get fully prepared in case of any possible contingency!
